Hupomone Bible College is a ministry of Calvary Chapel of San Antonio. The College began with a desire to help men and women know the Bible, grow in sound doctrine, and be prepared to serve Christ faithfully wherever He calls. The name Hupomone speaks of endurance, perseverance, and steadfastness, and that is what we want to see in our students: believers who are grounded in Scripture, growing in Christ, active in the local church, and ready to serve. Our motto, Praedica Verbum Semper—Preach the Word Always, reminds us why we do what we do. Our goal is not just to teach information about the Bible, but to help students know Jesus through His Word and faithfully share that truth with others. Hupomone brings together biblical teaching, discipleship, ministry formation, and practical service. Whether someone is preparing for ministry or wants to grow in their understanding of Scripture, the College is here to help them take that next step. At the heart of it all: Just Be With Jesus.
We believe biblical education belongs in the life of the local church. Our classes focus on faithful teaching of Scripture, sound doctrine, discipleship, and ministry experience so students do not just know the Bible, but live it.
Students study hermeneutics, theology, Old and New Testament surveys, individual books of the Bible, ministry formation, and practical service. Every course is built to help students understand, live, and faithfully teach God’s Word.
Hupomone Bible College is a ministry of Calvary Chapel of San Antonio and operates under a religious exemption. Our focus is faithful biblical and theological education within the local church rather than traditional academic accreditation.
Courses are taught in person through verse-by-verse teaching, discussion, and practical application. Students are encouraged to ask questions, study Scripture carefully, and grow together in Christ.
No. Hupomone is for anyone who wants to grow in their knowledge of Scripture and walk with Christ. Some may be preparing for ministry, while others want a stronger biblical foundation for their family, work, church, and daily life.
Yes. Tuition is completely free. Students may need to purchase textbooks or course materials, but there is no tuition to attend Hupomone Bible College.
You do not have to make Calvary Chapel of San Antonio your home church. However, students are required to attend a weekly service at CCSA and participate in chapel, pastoral formation, ministry service, and other College activities. Students should also remain faithfully involved in their home church.
At this time, Hupomone Bible College does not offer asynchronous online courses. We believe biblical education happens through teaching, discussion, discipleship, ministry, and life together in the local church—things that cannot be fully replicated online.
